If I had a dollar for every time I’ve restarted this blog, I’d have….three dollars. Still, three is a lot of times to reboot a blog. I was starting to feel like I should just put it out of its misery. Just let it die the natural death for which it seemed doomed. But…I’m not a quitter. So, here I go again.
Each time I’ve restarted this blog, I’ve had a different vision. At first, I thought it might be a “mom blog.” After all, I have four kids. But there are so many of those out there, and their content is much better than anything I have to say on that topic. I considered going with a spiritual blog, but that just seemed really heavy. I even considered doing an uplifting, “Chicken Soup for the Soul” type blog. However, if you’ve met me, you know I’m more of a “sarcastic comment” type person. So, I felt like I would end up snarking about my own blog.
So, where did I land?
I’m going to talk about hot topics. Current events. Things we argue about on Facebook. I’m not going to rant and rave like a “Karen” on steroids. Although, my given name is Karen. I’m going to approach each topic with the goal of being accurate and relevant. However, I’m also going to try to inject my wry sense of humor into each post. Hopefully you’ll laugh. And, hopefully, we’ll start to see some of these issues from another point of view.
In addition to the written blog, because I know some of you despise reading, I will be posting a video version of each update to my YouTube channel, “Unscripted.” A new blog post will go up every Sunday, and the corresponding vlog post will go up on Monday.
Finally, you’ll notice that, no matter what issue I cover or on which side of the aisle I fall, I will use “we” instead of “I” and “you.” This is because we really are one big “we.” That might sound like a hippie, “We Are the World” way to look at things. But it’s true. We are all different. But we are “we.” And I believe the first step in bridging the divide is to remember that.
And now, on with the blog.
